The ELHI Community Center is excited to be hosting the 2026 Hop & Shop vendor market and nighttime (teen) Easter Egg hunt. Join us on March 27th from 6pm-9pm for a bounce house, vendor market, face painting, crafts & games. Then, once the sun goes down, the flashlights will come out and we'll send the teens on an after dark Egg Hunt for 2000 eggs courtesy of XMission and the Ironwood Youth Leadership Project! Rainbow Youth Center's Transgender Healthcare Symposium on March 28th and 29th at Fort Lewis College. This is a FREE event that is open to community providers, students, and community members! The Transgender Healthcare Symposium is an opportunity for community members and providers to learn more about transgender healthcare and will include topics around transgender and gender non-conforming individuals experiences in health care/behavioral health cares, how to support youth mental health, discuss the ever changing legal landscape, and will allow people to learn more about puberty blockers and other gender affirming care procedures. Fly Fishing Film Tour 2026 To help kick off Duranglers' Fly Fishing Festival, we are gathering to watch a great night of films. This time, we're bringing you the Fly Fishing Film Tour, which has already been touring the country to rave reviews. In addition, we're partnering with Casting for Recovery because they are celebrating their 30th year of offering free fly fishing retreats to women surviving breast cancer and our very own Kara Armano runs the retreat Western Slope retreat every October. 5RTU Casting Clinic As part of Duranglers Fly Fishing Festival, we invite you to Santa Rita Park at 10am on Saturday April 4th to practice your casting. Bring your rod and your enthusiasm to learn. We'll cast for an hour or a little more and then join in on the Duranglers fun. Anyone is welcome at any level of fly fishing proficiency. If there are enough women who come, we'll separate and have just a women's group taught by Kara Armano. Please join the Durango Running Club for the inaugural Earth Day 5K! The race will be on 04/18/26 at 8:30 AM at Rotary Park in Durango. Runners and walkers will go north on the Animas River Trail from Rotary Park, and will run or walk 1.55 miles north to just before 32nd Street. Participants will then turn around and finish at Rotary park for a total of 3.1 miles. Please note this will be a Zero Waste event. Participants are encouraged to carry their own water. 

This event is a fun run/walk format, and there will be no chip timing or prizes.

All proceeds from the race will go to benefit Compañeros. As the only organization in our region with its primary focus on serving immigrants, Compañeros offers unique and crucial services to our community. Services offered by Compañeros include resource navigation, legal services, education outreach, and community engagement. Compañeros website: https://www.companeros.org

We will look to wrap the race up by 9:30 AM. After the race, stay in town for Durango's Earth Day Celebration. Events include a parade at 10:30 AM from College to Buckley Park, as well as a festival in Buckley Park from 11 AM to 3 PM. 

April is usually a beautiful time in Durango, and we cannot wait to see you all at Rotary Park on 04/18!

Join fellow history buffs for a special fundraising trip on the famous Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, benefiting the Animas Museum and the Southwest Colorado Humanities Roundtable. The journey includes a visit to the Tacoma Power Plant, where electricity was first transmitted to Silverton in May 1906. Thanks to the Durango & Silverton Railroad and Xcel Energy for making this event possible. The train departs downtown Durango at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21st, and returns at 2:30 p.m. Onboard, local historian Charles DiFerdinando will share insights on the region’s history, the railroad, and the power plant.
