🎾 DHS Boys Tennis Fundraiser. | May 9., Saturday, 10am -1pm | Open to all ages! No racket? No problem. Bring a friend, play, and support DHS Boys Tennis. Raffle prizes + fun for everyone. Raffle items include lessons, camps, and local eatery gift cards - must be present to win! Come play and support DHS Boys Tennis. Light Over Shadows Day will take place on May 9th from 12:00-3:00pm at Rotary Park in Durango. This free community event is designed to reduce stigma surrounding mental health and substance use while fostering connection, awareness, and support. We'll kick off the day at 12pm with a Mental Health Awareness Walk. Around 1:30pm, community members will share their powerful personal stories related to mental health and substance use. Throughout the event, local organizations will be tabling to provide information and connect attendees with resources available in our community. Silent Sundays with Swanson May 10th, 2026 Silent Sundays with Swanson continue at the Durango Arts Center, on Mother’s Day at 2 pm, Sunday May 10th, 2026. Short silent films will be accompanied by live music with pianist Adam Swanson. The films are by Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy, plus a thrilling railroad-themed movie. This family friendly event is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets are available at www.durangoarts.org or the gallery desk Tuesdays - Saturdays, Noon - 6 pm.

Parade of Projects (City of Durango) May 13, 5:30-7:30 at the Durango Library Come learn about some of the City's capital improvement projects slated for the next five years. Presentations will be given by public works, parks and recreation, and transportation, followed by a breakout session to learn more.

The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society invites the public to a presentation in the Lyceum at the Center of Southwest Studies and on Zoom on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:00 pm. At 6:30 we will have social time in the CSWS foyer. Then after a brief business meeting, Dr. John Kappelman, emeritus professor, University of Texas, Austin, will present a discussion on the “How today’s African fauna came to be: Continental collisions and climate change, and dispersals and extinctions”. Warhol and Wine Class: Lovebirds The Durango Arts Center displays a Warhol and Wine Class running from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Thursday, May 14th, 2026. No experience is necessary and all beverages and supplies are provided. Artist Mike Scieszka will guide you into making a whimsical, colorful, and eye-catching loverbirds painting. Perennial Plant Sale by the Durango Garden Club -The Garden Club of Durango will host their annual plant sale on Saturday, May 16th from 9am - 10:30 am, rain or shine, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave. Come early for the best selection. Cash, check or credit card. Plants are from local and member gardens. A large selection of irises, labeled by color, will be available. Southwest Colorado Archery Association. We are having a "Bows and bbq social" at South Serious Texas on May 16th from 4-6pm. This event is to bring awareness to the club and our ambitions to get a public archery range in Durango for all to use. Its free for everyone. We do not have a website, yet.
