It's About Kids

A project of the Colorado Children's Campaign (www.coloradokids.org), a volunteer group of Child Advocates who work to pass child-friendly policies and initiatives -- locally and statewide, especially focusing on the legislature.  We speak out and speak up in all forms possible to give children a voice through candidate forums, an email tree, advocacy trainings, and voter and media education.   Contact: Marsha Porter-Norton, 970-375-0753 or porternorton@animas.net

 

Montezuma County Partners

Dragon Youth Project

A program of San Juan Basin Health Departments Prevention Division. Their mission is to work with at-risk youth in order to strengthen areas of self esteem, personal control, decision making and interpersonal communication. They also work with the entire community to provide education that will assist in our youth making healthier choices, and to reduce and prevent druan and alcohol abuse. 247 5702 x 225, or kendra@sjbhd.org

Habitat For Humanity

Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing in La Plata County.  Through the use of volunteers and the ‘sweat equity’ of our homeowners, we build simple, decent homes with 0% interest mortgages.  We serve people earning between 30% and 50% of the median income.  For information about applying for a home- info@habitatdurango.org  For information about volunteering- nadine@habitatdurango.org or call 970-382-9930.
