My boyfriend and I moved to Durango in August of 2008 from Boulder, CO and fell in love with it. Being a progressive thinker, an outdoor enthusiast, and a community centered individual, I have found Durango to be the perfect place for me. I enjoy painting, working with light, building furniture, snowboarding, backpacking, mountain biking, and the search for truth and connection. The table that I donated for the KDUR silent auction was inspired by a recycled window that I found at the Habitat for Humanity yard sale over the summer. I painted several large canvases in my backyard and ripped them into strips. The final piece was woven together from these strips, and then encased under the window in a frame that I built. The web that is created from these strips is strong, stronger than the individual strip ever could be. They come together as individual pieces of fabric to create a collective image of an aspen grove. I see the thread that connects humanity, our environment, and our universe. I believe that if we can shift the paradigm from separateness to oneness we will be a strong force that is capable of handling the obstacles of our future. I hope you enjoy the table and in viewing it feel the connection that you have with the whole.
