Mariah Kaminsky
Mariah Kaminsky has a long history in art related media. She graduated with a degree in Technical Theatre from Ball State University, with an emphasis in Fine Art. After a short career as a Scenic Artist where she honed her skills in faux finishing, trompe l’oeil, and large scale mural work, a move to Durango was set into motion. It was at this time that a career change was in order. It was at this point where Mariah’s work shifted to residential and commercial decorative painting and murals, Durango Custom Works, LLC.
Like any artist, evolution must always be in motion. Although Mariah is still very much in the midst of her work with DCW, she has also begun another venture in fine art painting.
"My main emphasis is oil portraiture. I continue to experiment with many different kinds of media and subject matter, but I always seem to go back to faces. Their complexities of character and form continue to challenge me with every new painting."
Mariah first started experimenting with portraiture through a commission from a client to paint her two children. From there she decided to further her education in this subject matter with a workshop by portrait artist, Tony Ryder at the Andreeva Portrait Academy, Santa Fe, NM in 2006. She plans to continue this training through future workshops.
