The Durango Arts Center announces upcoming exhibit, Spanish Colonial Arts: Origins showing March 28 through May 10 with an opening reception on Friday, March 28 from 5 to 7 p.m.
In collaboration with the Center for Southwest Studies and the Rocky Mountain Councilof Latin American Studies, this galerie d’art will feature Saltillo sarapes, colcha embroideries, religious arts, costume, retablos and bultos, talavera, silver, leatherwork and more.
This exhibit will also features a lecture on “Hispanic Textiles of the New World” by Mark Winter on Thursday, April 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the DAC Theater. Interested attendees are also invited to meet Mark Winter on Thursday, April 3 for the First Thursdays Art Walk in the Barbara Conrad Gallery from 5 to 6 p.m. before his lecture.
DAC also offers a Spanish Colonial Marketplace in the Barbara Conrad Gallery on Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in conjunction with the exhibit.
